Our ear canal produces a waxy oil which is known to be called cerumen, or more commonly referred to as ear wax. The ear wax protects the ear and ear drum from foreign particles and microorganisms. The build up of wax can vary from person to person, and between the left and right ear for the same person. A heavy accumulation over time can be the result of temporarily hearing loss where one would experience a blocked or underwater effect hearing sensation. At Quantum Hearing, we can check and assist removal of ear wax using a medical grade microscope and a gentle vacuum.

*This service may be more suited for ongoing ear maintenance if you know you regularly have a wax build up to remove it before it becomes a problem. If your ear/s feel completely blocked and/or you have used a cotton bud, you may be more suited to Ear Syringing with warm water by your General Practitioner (GP).
